My "Daddy"!
Jonah and his Daddy!!!
oxoxox

What a perfect day! For our first father's day we spent the morning getting out for an early morning bike ride. It's the best time to go this time of year...before the heat hits hard by mid-day. We tried out Jonah's new helmet which seems a bit cumbersome for our little man so we'll take our time getting use to it. Anyway, after a nice breakfast we went to work on rearranging parts of the house to create a playroom for Jonah while he napped. It seemed like a great Father's Day activity and the room turned out perfect! Now Jonah has his own space for all his toys. Then headed off to Grandma and Grandpa's for some fun in the pool and a great barbecue dinner.
There is a special bond between dads and their children that I am so happy to witness now with my own family. Jonah always comes to me for comfort, for food, and of course for lots of love, but with daddy there is a love made of laughter and unspoken smiles that melt my heart. Jimmy is a loving, caring, worrisome daddy that loves Jonah with an incredible warmth and for that I am so grateful. Happy Father's Day Daddy! We love you!!!
Jimmy makes Jonah laugh and giggle so hard it's contagious! I love the way he smiles and shouts out with joy when Daddy comes home, the way Jonah kisses his face afters rolling around on the floor together, the way they chase each other around the house while playing, and the way Jimmy tells him about everyday things, while Jonah looks at him soaking it all in. They are an amazing pair...Father and Son...My boys!!! I love you both so much!!! oxoxox
Playing together!

Happy 10 Months Jonah!!!
10 Months, Wow!!! And I'm home all summer to enjoy every moment, yay! Jonah is so much fun to be with. We are so blessed to have such a healthy, happy, lovable baby boy in our lives. He makes us whole, complete, and truly a family. Jonah is having full conversations with me these days, at least he thinks he is, and is really starting to understand a lot of the things I say. When I say, "Let's take a bath," he crawls to the bathroom waiting for me to turn the water on. Jonah is showing lots of emotions too. When he gets excited he flares his arms and legs and babbles with joy. He claps his hands when we say "Yay!" When he wants to be picked up or taken out of the high chair, he lifts his arms up and can't wait for you to get him. He is also walking with his car walking toy everywhere in the house and has figured out how to maneuver it so that he can turn it around if he gets stuck. Oh and I started brushing his teeth, all 6 of them! Daddy even bought a bike seat for Jonah and he absolutely loves going on bike rides, just like the swings and the beach...There's something about being outside when there is a gentle breeze blowing that's so calming.Yesterday we stopped on the bike path to watch a turtle munching on some grass. Jonah was so curious about it, as he is about everything...It was so mesmerizing to watch Jonah reach out to try to touch the turtle and "talk" to it as thought he was giving it instructions about where the good food was :) Seeing life through your child's eyes is just unbelievable. It's like starting all over again, reliving in a way. I'm so excited about having all summer at home with Jonah. It's the first summer that I'm not working, for as long as I can remember and I plan to gobble up every second of it and of him!

Wishful Thinking
Can we say....wishful thinking....Okay, so since Jonah has been eating more and more solid foods, his "messy" diapers have been getting more regular and a bit predictable. Soooo, it was suggested to me that I try him on the potty chair even though he's not quite 10 months yet....
Ha ha, like I said, wishful thinking. Needless to say, it didn't work. But it was the first time so we made it fun, sang some songs, read one of his favorite books and of course we had to take some pictures. Then came the "get me off of this thing" cry. No poop, no pee, nada, nothing....until next time, maybe ;)

The last couple of weekends have been busy with visits from family friends, a new bike seat to ride with Jonah, farewell dinner for Uncle David before his trip to Israel and just getting everything together for the end of the school year for me. One more teacher work day and summer here I come!!! I'm so excited to have Mommy and Jonah time now!!! Yay for Watermelon!
Well, the hubby came up with this cute idea of bringing home a big watermelon for Jonah and letting him make a mess with it! Last night Jonah tried some watermelon for the first time and loved it. Jimmy cut a couple of big slices while I undressed Jonah to his diaper, knowing this would be getting messy. We put Jonah on the floor with the watermelon and let him go at it. He loved it so much that he mopped the tiles with it! ;) Yes, after eating a bit of it, which he seemed to really like, he sat discovering the wet, juicy texture of it. He mushed, squeezed, and smashed it as much as he could. He even used a piece like a car and made it go "Vroom, Vroom" all over the floor. Oh, it was messy....and fun and so great to watch Jonah's reaction to experiencing something new! He was all laughs, giggles, and screams of joy!

White Coat!
We took our first road trip with Jonah this past weekend and I have to say that despite it being a non-stop weekend and all of us being really exhausted, Jonah was a great little traveler. We went up to Gainesville to visit Leah (my sister) who has just finished her second year of medical school. She had her "White Coat" ceremony on Sunday where she received her white lab coat and will soon begin the clinical part of medical school. So, it's a huge deal and we wanted to be there for her. Luckily, Jonah slept more than half way there and after finally getting comfortable most of the way home late Sunday night. It was rough coming back so late..."Thank you, Daddy for getting us home safely!"
Jonah loves being around our family and knowing that he is the center of attention so he was happily entertained or happily entertaining depending on the time of day. And after an initial breakdown when we were getting to into the auditorium for the ceremony, he was sooo good! He was hungry, what do you expect! After a quick nursing, some juice, and lots of fruit from the reception, oh and puff later on, Jonah was great! I had brought in some quiet toys for him and one of his favorite books. "I Love You, Through and Through", plus we even had a 4 year old boy sitting with his mother in front of us, playing with Jonah. He was showing him how to shake his hand, even fed him puff (it was too funny), and played peek-a-boo with him. Considering I heard several other babies screaming and crying, Jonah's babbling was wonderful and very appropriate. After the ceremony we received plenty of compliments from people who had been admiring our little man from afar. It made me feel proud! Overall it was a fun weekend, we stayed at a hotel, went out to eat, swam in the pool, even had waffles and peach yogurt for breakfast...Oh and how could I forget...ice cream for desert, so spoiled by Grandpa! ;) It was nice to do a "first" road trip with so many helping hands! And we are so happy that we could be there to see Leah reach this huge accomplishment in her life, we are so proud of her too!
